You are on your way to a rejuvenated smile and improved oral health. However, there are some important things to know to help ensure the recovery and healing process goes smoothly. How Long You Should Wait Before Exercising

  • Walking at a light or moderate pace
  • Yoga
  • Stretching exercises
  • Light strength training

If any bleeding or intense throbbing occurs while exercising after dental implant surgery, you should stop immediately and call your dentist.

Eating Healthy After Dental Implant Surgery

Along with exercise, eating a balanced diet is an important part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. As you resume your normal exercise or sports regimen, keep in mind that over the past several days you probably have not consumed the normal nourishment. This may weaken you and affect your ability to exercise normally.

Immediately following dental implant surgery, you should drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated and avoid hot liquids or food. You should also stick to soft foods and liquids, such as yogurt, pudding, applesauce, ice cream or soup for at least one day.

Afterward, you may return to a normal diet as soon as possible, or as directed by your dentist or oral surgeon. However, you may want to start by consuming soft foods (e.g., pasta, mashed potatoes, pancakes, eggs, etc.) and avoiding crunchy hard foods like nuts and chips for one week following surgery.
