Brow Lift & Browplasty
At Altitude Oral and Facial Surgery, we are dedicated to helping patients look and feel their best every day. We offer a wide range of cosmetic facial surgeries to recreate healthy, youthful appearances, and one of the most popular treatments is the browplasty. Often referred to as a brow lift, this procedure helps to decrease the appearance of deep forehead wrinkles or lift eyebrows that sag or droop. If you’re interested in learning more about brow lift or any of our other facial cosmetic surgery options, please contact Altitude Oral and Facial Surgery in one of our four convenient Denver office locations at LoDo, Commerce City, The Highlands, and Cherry Creek. We look forward to seeing you soon.
What is a Brow Lift?
A brow lift is a surgical cosmetic procedure performed to reduce the appearance of deep forehead wrinkles, lift droopy eye brows, or simply to reposition the brow line for patients who are unhappy with the appearance of their forehead or brow. Brow lifts can reduce the appearance of both vertical wrinkling between the eyes and horizontal furrows across the forehead.
What Should I Expect During Treatment?
Browplasty is an outpatient procedure. That means, you can go home on the same day you receive your brow lift procedure. Small incisions are made at the hairline where scaring will not be visible after you heal. During treatment, your brow is lifted, wrinkles are smoothed, and the doctor creates a flawless, youthful appearance. Then, we attach sutures and microscrews that hold the brow in this new position.
How do I Prepare for Brow Lift?
Before we move forward with your browplasty, you’ll need to talk to any other medical professionals you see regularly for chronic conditions and review your prescription medications. You’ll need to forego taking any prescription and nonprescription medications that may thin blood and compromise the safety of your surgical procedure. Within 12 hours of surgery, you need to avoid foods and drinks, apart from small amounts of water. One additional consideration unique to this procedure is hair coloring. You will need to forego dyeing your hair for at least a week before treatment and a month after the procedure.
What do I Need to do After my Procedure?
Following treatment, we’ll apply a gauze and antiseptic dressing to your forehead and scalp. You’ll need to wear this dressing for the first 24 hours following the procedure. After that, you can remove the dressing and wash your face and hair. You should shampoo and rinse your hair as many times as necessary to remove dried blood, taking special care to avoid moving the staples or sutures. You’ll then need to place an elastic bandage. This band should be worn for the week following treatment, as it will hold the skin in its new position and avoiding tugging on the sutures that can be painful. Two weeks following treatment, you’ll return for a checkup appointment, and in most cases, we’re able to remove your sutures at this point.
Immediately following your treatment, it’s perfectly natural to experience some swelling, bruising, and discomfort, but if this continues for more than a few days after your browplasty, please call us right away. This can be a sign of more serious concerns. You’ll need to take a course of antibiotics following treatment to avoid infection, and we may prescribe pain medications though most people do fine with over the counter options.
