Keep reading to learn more about this treatment option!
What is a Dental Implant?
A dental implant is a titanium post that is surgically placed in the jaw to act as an artificial tooth root. This is the only replacement solution that restores the entire tooth from the roots up for the healthiest, strongest, and most natural-looking smile. Titanium is a biocompatible material that allows the implant to fuse to the jaw, becoming a permanent part of your body. With proper care, the dental implant itself can last for a lifetime!
The Dental Implant Placement Process
After our oral surgeon in Commerce City has examined the number of teeth you’re missing, the condition of your oral health, and the strength of your jawbone, we will schedule your surgery. During this visit, we will ensure that you’re numb and comfortable before beginning. Dr. Fangman will make slight incisions in the gum tissue to access the bone. He will then create small holes in the jawbone for the placement of dental implants.
Next, you’ll leave our office and give your smile about 3 to 4 months for the dental implants to integrate with your jawbone. After this osseointegration process is complete, you’ll come back into our office for your custom-made restorations.
Types of Dental Implant Restoration
One of the reasons why dental implants are so popular is that they can be used to replace one tooth, multiple teeth, or even an entire row of your smile. The type of restoration that you need will directly depend on the number of teeth that you’re missing. For a single missing tooth, we can use a custom-made dental crown to seamlessly complete your smile. If you’re missing multiple teeth consecutively, we can restore them with a dental bridge. And, for patients missing all or most of their smile, we will recommend an implant-retained denture—the most stable and strong full smile replacement.
Advanced Dental Implant Procedures
For certain cases, patients may need additional procedures to ensure that they’re good candidates for dental implants. The most common of these treatments is bone grafting, a process that allows patients with thinner or weaker jawbones to receive dental implants. Dr. Fangman can use bone from another part of the body to add volume to the jaw. This can also come from donors, or it can be synthetic.
Cost of Dental Implants
If you’re considering dental implants, you may be wondering about the cost of the procedure. Because each patient’s mouth is different, the price can vary greatly due to factors like the number of missing teeth and the strength of the jaw. The best way to receive a precise estimate is to visit our office for a consultation. Dr. Fangman will carefully examine your smile before developing your personalized treatment plan.
